Singer Meesha Shafi said Monday she had a detailed meeting spanning over two hours with Ali Zafar’s representatives before she went public with sexual harassment allegations against the actor last year.
Speaking on Geo News’ programme Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath, which marked her first television appearance since the harassment and defamation cases were filed in court, Shafi said she had wished to resolve the matter privately as she did not want to work further with Zafar, and that she had communicated this “privately through representatives in a very clear manner”.
She continued: “I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar. These incidences did not happen when I was young, or just entering the industry. This happened to me despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”
